Let’s Get SYNC’D! Series PRESENTS…Kat Haber.

Climate Action is something every single one of us can do every single day from wherever we live. Climate crisis is fully upon us as evidenced daily in Alaska. As suffered through extreme weather emergencies throughout the world. As crumbling ecosystems attest to and the 6th mass extinction of species races on. The way humans are managing our economies, cultures, and societies is risking not only other species’ survival, but this century could impair our own.

So what am I doing about our shared climate current crisis?

I empower teens, women, visionaries in finding their voices and amplifying their ideas producing TEDx events and 150 TEDx Talks in Alaska and Colorado, mentor WORLD PULSE emergent women leaders, mentor teen eco-leaders by bringing them to World Wilderness Congresses, and promote businesses with streams of sustainable funding for charities. In 2014 I walked across the country in the Great March for Climate Action from LA to DC. That same month I founded WE Rotary, a virtual global Rotary club to create a more peaceful world.

Of course none of this accomplished alone. It takes teams collaborating beyond centers of excellence to achieve bigger things than any of us can alone.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California almost 30 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes on a diverse mix of topics. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The TED 2019 Conference will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, along with the TEDActive simulcast in neighboring Whistler.

The lesson here: be strategic and specific.  Message: Take care of Earth. It’s totally worth it!
